Singin' in the Rain (U) 7-9pm.

Doors & bar from 6:30pm. Pay on the door: £3 (thanks to Cinema for All's Festival of Community Cinema).

A 1952 spoof of the turmoil in the movie industry in the late 1920s when movies went from silent to sound.
Don (Gene Kelly) falls for gutsy and talented Kathy (Debbie Reynolds) at the moment when silent cinema is rendered obsolete. He gets Kathy a job dubbing squeaky-voiced Lina. Don is on top of the world until Lina finds out.
But they have an even bigger idea: why not put music into these newfangled talking pictures? And so the musical is born.

“The unstoppable joy of the musical numbers, especially with Donald O’Connor, is what never fails to seduce … Kelly, Reynolds and O’Connor do something achieved only by geniuses: they make it look easy.” [Guardian]
“Clever, incisive, and funny, Singin' in the Rain is a masterpiece of the classical Hollywood musical.”
Rotten Tomatoes: 95% Audience Score.
